Review
I Am My Own Wife by Doug Wright
Most recently, I directed Doug Wright’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play I Am My Own Wife at Mendocino Theatre Company. This one-person show tells the story of Charlotte von Mahlsdorf, a transgender antiques collector who survived both the Nazi and Communist regimes in Germany. It was a rewarding challenge to guide a single performer through a wide range of characters while staying true to the play’s complexity, humor, and humanity. Working with such a dedicated team reinforced my belief in theatre’s power to tell difficult stories with honesty and compassion.
Cuesta College
New Teaching Role
I’m excited to share that I’ve been hired as a full-time Drama Instructor at Cuesta College! After my time at LSSU, where I learned so much from my students and colleagues, I’m thrilled to begin this next chapter. I’m grateful for everything that experience taught me, and I can’t wait to bring it into the classroom and onto the stage, helping students build confidence, creativity, and craft at Cuesta.

Romeo & Juliet at NCTC
This summer, I directed Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet for New Canon Theatre. It was a joy to dig into one of the most beloved plays in the canon and find what feels fresh and urgent in it, from the electricity of the young lovers to the humor and heartbreak that surround them. Working closely with the cast and design team, I focused on clear storytelling, strong ensemble work, and language that feels alive and immediate to a contemporary audience. The experience reminded me why I love shared, collaborative theatre-making, and why Shakespeare still has so much to say about love, family, and the cost of conflict.
